The Role

As a Business Development Representative, you will be the first point of contact for prospective clients — responsible for identifying, engaging, and qualifying new business opportunities across the UK, Europe, and the US. You will work directly with the leadership team to build pipeline, run outbound campaigns, and convert interest into discovery calls.

This is a high-impact role at an early stage. You will not be executing a rigid playbook — you will help define it. We are looking for someone who is commercially sharp, genuinely curious about AI, and comfortable selling to technical and executive audiences alike.

We use AI tools across our business. We expect our BDR to use AI tools to research prospects, personalise outreach, and operate with significantly higher efficiency than a traditional SDR workflow.


Key Responsibilities

  • Build and manage outbound pipeline — identify target accounts, research decision-makers, and execute personalised outreach via email, LinkedIn, and calls

  • Qualify inbound leads — respond promptly to inbound enquiries, run initial discovery conversations, and pass qualified opportunities to leadership

  • Run multi-touch outbound sequences — design and execute campaigns targeting founders, CTOs, CIOs, and operational leaders at companies that would benefit from AI-powered solutions

  • Develop messaging — craft clear, compelling outreach copy that speaks to specific pain points in prospects' industries and roles

  • Manage CRM hygiene — keep the pipeline accurate and up to date, track touchpoints, and surface actionable insights from pipeline data

  • Collaborate with leadership — work closely with founders on account strategy, target verticals, and messaging iteration

  • Use AI tools for scale — leverage AI research and writing tools to personalise outreach at volume without sacrificing quality

  • Represent Eightgen professionally — maintain a high standard of communication that reflects our brand and builds long-term trust with prospects


Required Qualifications

  • 2-4 years of B2B sales or business development experience, ideally in a technology, SaaS, or services context

  • Experience selling to senior stakeholders — comfortable initiating conversations with C-suite, VP, or Director-level contacts

  • Strong written communication — ability to write concise, compelling outreach that gets responses; no copy-paste templates

  • Familiarity with outbound tools — LinkedIn Sales Navigator, Apollo, HubSpot, Salesforce, or similar CRM and sequencing platforms

  • Self-starter — able to manage your own time, prioritise effectively, and work without close supervision in a remote environment

  • Interest in or knowledge of AI and technology — you do not need to be technical, but you should be able to speak credibly about what AI can do for a business

  • Experience working across UK, European, or US markets — understanding of commercial norms and professional communication styles across these regions

AI-Assisted Sales Skills

  • Hands-on experience using AI tools for sales research, prospect personalisation, email drafting, or competitive analysis (ChatGPT, Claude, Perplexity, or similar)

  • Comfort with iterating on AI output — ability to use AI-generated drafts as a starting point and refine them to sound genuinely human and contextually relevant


Preferred Qualifications

  • Prior experience at an agency, consultancy, or professional services firm selling project-based or retainer engagements

  • Background selling AI, data, or software services to enterprise or mid-market clients

  • Experience building outbound from scratch — defining ICPs, writing sequences, and iterating on messaging without an established playbook

  • Familiarity with AI tools for sales automation (Clay, Lemlist, Smartlead, or similar)

  • Network or connections in relevant verticals — manufacturing, financial services, healthcare, or retail
